The animation simulates what happens when you upload a file. The file is encrypted in your browser, then uploaded to the server. The server never sees the unencrypted file, or the key in a usable form.

Most file sharing services encrypt your files in transit and at rest, then store them on their servers - but they hold the key. That means the provider, anyone who breaches them, or anyone who legally compels them, can open your files. VeilShare's zero-knowledge architecture ensures only you, and people you've sent share link to, will be able to access files - nobody else.

We only make money from people buying plans. The service is meant to be free for anyone who wants it without needing to pay. Paying is only for those who want to support the project or need higher limits.
No. You can upload, share, and download files without ever signing up.
Creating an account is entirely optional. It's there for people who want to:
- Buy a plan for more storage space
- Manage uploaded files for easier access
- Store files permanently
Yes, in the case of fire, water damage or simillar to the infrastructure your files will stay 100% safe. However, if you manually delete your files, they're are gone. That's for your privacy and by design.
The high safety is because it's stored on Cloudflare's R2 buckets. You can read more on this page.
You shouldn't blindly trust anything on the internet.
However, you could open DevTools in your browser. You will see:
- Only encrypted file data is sent to the server
- No raw encryption key is transmitted
Limits and other features vary depending on your account status.
The limits for a non logged-in user are:
- Up to 3 GB in storage
- Up to 10 GB daily download
- Temporary storage only
The limits for a logged-in user are:
- Up to 5 GB in storage
- Up to 25 GB daily download
- Permanent and temporary storage
Buying a plan gives you higher limits and additional features. You can view more at the pricing page.
You can pay with a credit card (auto-renewing subscription) or a one-time Bitcoin payment (never auto-charged). When a plan isn't renewed, your account simply reverts to the limits above.
You can top-up or upgrade any time. When you upgrade, your remaining time is converted into bonus credit on the new plan. No need to wait it out first.
We offer multiple payment methods.
Credit Card/Apple Pay: the easiest option for most people, and subscriptions renew automatically so you don't have to think about it. Payments are processed via Stripe, so we don't see your card details.
Bitcoin: for anyone who'd rather use some spare crypto or want to be more private. Even tho Bitcoin and most other cryptocurrencies aren't completely anonymous, it is definitely more privacy respecting than traditional fiat payment methods.
